I’ve Got My Toes in the Sand…

…and my pacifier in my mouth. We jsut returned from our first “family” vacation with J.T. in tow…and about a million other things (again all courtesy of J.T.) we had a blast and enjoyed every minute of it. We stayed with my aunt and uncle (Sandra & Terry) in Pensacola, FL, along with several other members of the extended family. J.T. loves the ocean and especially the sand. He traveled very well, which was a blessing. For those who are curious, we did not see any oil from the BP spill. It was all to the west of us. Until next time…surf’s up!!

It’s been a while since our last update. We have seen the doctor since then, and it was a healthy report (hence the title). J.T. is growing and we are a happy family. J.T. has also found his hands and feet this week. He is happy all the time, and love to smile and laugh. “Silly Monkey” gets the biggest smiles, while “goo’s and gaah’s” are next. He also loves to travel and ride in the car. So, I guess this blog may turn into the travels of J.T. Stay Tuned…

J.T.’s Dedication

I am a few days late with the post, but last Sunday – March 7, 2010 – we dediated our little boy to the Lord. For those who don’t know or are unfamiliar with baby dedications, it is a symbol that we as J.T.’s parents understand that God gave us this young man to raise, and we want to honor God by training up our child in the love and knowledge of God. It was a beastiful ceremony, and Bro. Dwayne (Norman, our pastor) did an amazing job. We had the sanctuary packed with family and friends. It was a blessing to see such support and love. Thank you to all who came, and those who wanted to, but couldn’t.

At 6:46 am on Friday, February 5th, 2010 – just a mere 4 minutes after the c-section started – it was all over and I was staring at the most beautiful thing in the world! James Thomas McLain made his arrival in spectacular fashion – screaming at the top of his lungs…using every ounce of the 9 pounds and 5 ounces God gave him.

So, while Mommy was being stitched up, JT and I were whisked away to NICU for standard cleaning and grandparent’s faces pressed against the glass windows. I have video I’ll try to post later!

Since then, mommy and I have been adjusting to our precious little bundle. Keep following this blog for all the details.

So Close…

Well, J.T. is almost here. It is only a matter of time (and apparently a full moon.) According to almost everyone we have talked to, the “magic” of a full moon will somehow set in motion the gears that need to be turned in order to expel a beautiful baby into this world. We’ll see.

In other news, we have been blessed with so many wonderful gifts and outpourings of love, so thank you to all our friends and family. I know I haven’t posted in a while, so the ones who have stuck around to read this, that is meant especially for you.

Amy has been tremendous throughout the pregnancy – and continues to surprise me with her strength in all of this. More post coming soon!

Eyelids and Things…

I have eyelids this week and lots of other things as well – but mostly eyelids. So I am sensitive to light and will flee from it – which makes mommy uncomfortable.

But luckily for her, I am getting large enough so that I’ll have to postpone my baby acrobatics class until post-delivery. In other words, I can still kick and punch, but the somersaults will be on the back burner cuz I am running out of room in here.

Aside from that, life’s good and I can’t wait to come out and play!!

Around the World in 80 Days!

Assuming I left tomorrow on an 80 day round-the-world trip, by the time I returned I would have a bouncing baby boy (at least according to the calendar). Today is exactly 80 days from January 26th! We are on the cusp of the 3rd trimester, and what I would call the 7th inning stretch. And thankfully, JT was not up to witness the Yankee’s victory for their 27th world series title. Baseball aside, the baby shower is coming up and we are in the home stretch. Big changes all around! Ahhhhh!

Updates Galore!

Is the last month is any indication, and I believe it is – it appears that blogging will soon take a back seat (behind the car seat and scattered Cheerios) to life. Both Amy and I have been busy with any number of random things at any given time…the least of which has been time on the Internet So I’ll try to fill you in and keep you up to date as possible.

Baby Log: We have less than 100 days left, and we all 3 know it. J.T. is well aware that the time is near and he is kicking to get out..and I mean really kicking…hard! It’s fun to watch for me and not near as fun for Amy.

House Log: Nursery is done and you will have a better chance of seeing it by coming by the house, than waiting for me to put up pictures! Sorry about that!

Future Log: Our next big step is the 3-D ultrasound and then a real live 3-D baby!

My Mom (now Grandmom) also found (like it was ever lost) – my old baby clothes. Two Alabama shirts, a Sailor’s outfit and some other stuff. I think I can still wear one of the Bama shirts. Go Tide! Shhh…Don’t tell Mommy!
